Hunsader Farms got its start in 1967 when three Hunsader Brothers left their Wisconsin dairy farm to try their hand at growing vegetables in the sunny south. The brothers cleared the land by hand and planted their first crop of 80 acres of tomatoes in the fall of 1967.
Through the years the farm has added many events and activities, including a barn-style farmer’s market, a petting zoo, playground, an ice cream and gift shop.
Homegrown vegetables are picked daily to ensure freshness. When it’s in-season (u-pick season), you can go right into the field and pick the vegetables yourself! Inside the market you’ll find a variety of homemade jams, jellies, delicious homemade honey and many other goodies.
While you’re checking out the goodies, the kids will enjoy the slides, swinging, digging in the big sandbox and riding on the circle path around the mini barn. Don’t forget to take them to the petting zoo that includes deer, emus, bunnies, fainting goats, pigs, geese, sheep, roosters, dairy goats, a donkey, a pony, cows, a llama, a peacock and chickens. There is also animal feed so you can hand feed the animals yourself!
