It’s No Secret

After dropping their bags at the door of their vacation rentals, everyone’s first stop will be the white sand beaches that are often just steps away from the property they have chosen. It’s no secret that soft white sands and warm turquoise waters are what draw people to our island home, and although there may be rainy days or days that are a bit too cool for swimming in the salty waters, there is no wrong time of year to visit the beach. And whether you are simply lounging on colorful beach chairs, soaking in the rays of the sun, or are splashing around in the surf, when the timer runs out on your stay in paradise, the beach will play top billing in your vacation memories.

The Coquina Beach Farmers Market Is Open Year-Round

If you are from a colder state, you may be impressed knowing that our farmers’ markets stay open year-round, with just the occasional storm shutting them down. The Coquina Beach Farmers Market, located at 1800 Gulf Drive S in Bradenton Beach, will be perfect for stocking your shelves, picking up cool gifts for the ones you left at home, and perhaps buying a souvenir or two for yourself, no matter when you plan your 2026 trip to Anna Maria Island. Open from 10 AM until 2 PM on Wednesdays and Sundays, the joy you feel while strolling around the aisles and examining all manner of goods from our local vendors can never be overrated.

Catching Your Limit

Fishing is always a popular AMI activity, and there are quite a few fishing charter companies on the island that will take you where the fishing is the best. Anna Maria Charters offers both chartered excursions, including snorkel adventures and wildlife tours, and their fishing charters are highly recommended. We love all the charter companies in the area, but one of the things we love most about this wonderful one is that they don’t just offer inshore, nearshore, or offshore expeditions; they also offer fly fishing adventures for fly fishing anglers of all skill levels.  Although your catch may look different from season to season (tarpon in the summer, grouper in the fall, sheepshead in the winter, and snook in the spring), it is still an activity in which you will be able to engage at any time of the year.

A Taste of the Island

Remember that taco you ate in Tucson, the crepe you devoured in Paris, or the grouper you salivated over during your last visit to Anna Maria Island? Oh, wait, this is your first time, and you haven’t yet experienced the joys of a fresh grouper sandwich, but that’s ok. Your Florida vacation should include at least one grouper sandwich, especially if you choose to visit a local favorite, the Rod & Reel Pier, located at 3246 E Bay Drive in Holmes Beach. We are especially excited that you will be able to visit the Rod & Reel Pier, as it has only recently reopened (in a new location) after being destroyed during some recent storms. The food is still wonderful, and its new location should be temporary, only to be used until they have rebuilt the pier on which it used to sit.

When breakfast rolls around, however, you may want to visit the Anna Maria Island Beach Café, found at 4000 Gulf Drive in Holmes Beach. Offering beach views and all-you-can-eat pancakes, you can’t go wrong when you choose this casual spot, and because they serve lunch too, you can always come back for seafood, sandwiches, or burgers at midday!
