Starting in 2005, Mike and Lizzie Thrasher have been revitalizing Pine Avenue to help showcase ‘Old’ Florida and encourage people to travel from one end of Pine Avenue to the other using environmentally friendly methods such as by bike, golf cart or walking. This is one of the best Anna Maria attractions!

This started with Beach Bums AMI, an Island equipment rental store that provides bikes, kayaks, golf carts and other equipment to visitors and locals alike.

Next was the Anna Maria General Store, the only independent grocery store on Anna Maria.

Working with the Anna Maria Historical Society, five more plots along Pine Avenue are being renovated to create local businesses that will mirror the historic buildings in scale and styling but also will have modern improvements. These improvements include solar and ground heat pumps, energy efficient windows and lighting, recycling storm and rain water, and more.

With these improvements, the Anna Maria Historic Green Village will produce enough energy to run all the buildings and businesses in the Village, creating a Net Zero Energy. Contact us now!
